Tuition fee exemption/deferment of tuition fee collection (for economic reasons and academic excellence)
Tuition exemption and deferral (for financial reasons and academic excellence)
[About the tuition exemption system]
The tuition exemption system is a system that provides a full or half tuition exemption to selected students who are deemed to have extreme difficulty paying tuition fees for financial reasons.
Under the New Tuition Support System for Higher Education, which began in April 2020, Japanese undergraduate students and permanent residents who are recipients of grant-based scholarships from the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) will receive exemptions or reductions on tuition and entrance fees.
If you have applied for tuition or tuition exemption, tuition fees will be deferred until the results are announced. The results are announced around July in the first semester and around January in the second semester.
[About the Tuition Payment Deferral System]
The tuition fee deferral system is a system in which, after selection, students who are deemed to have difficulty paying tuition fees by the due date due to financial reasons are given a deferral of tuition fees until the end of August for those granted a deferral of tuition fees in the first semester, and until the end of February for those granted a deferral of tuition fees in the second semester.
