Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology offers a variety of study abroad programs depending on each student's goals, language level, and specialty.
Please take advantage of a variety of opportunities, from short-term language study abroad to highly specialized semester program and full-fledged research study abroad.

I want to experience a different culture

There are short-term study abroad programs that allow you to experience different cultures while learning abroad. It is mainly for first to third year undergraduate students and is implemented during summer and spring holidays. In addition to experiencing local agriculture and culture, you will also have the chance to interact with local students.

We offer short-term language training programs, primarily conducted in English-speaking countries.
The program is primarily for undergraduate students in their first to third years and is held during the summer and spring breaks.
Here, you will acquire language skills that will be useful for future research abroad.

I want to study for a few months

There are programs available where students can spend about a semester at universities in Southeast Asia or Europe, studying their field of specialization while experiencing the local culture. These programs are for third-year undergraduate students. There are also programs that include internships in the host country.

Semester Exchange Program

I want to get a degree

I'm interested in obtaining a degree abroad while still enrolled in TUAT.

There is a double degree program that allows you to study abroad and earn a degree at a partner university while enrolled in Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology.
The main target is graduate master's students, and the study abroad period is generally one year.
You can engage in full-scale research and aim to become a global human resource.

Double Degree Program

After graduating from TUAT, I would like to pursue a degree at a university abroad.

There is a scholarship program (grant-based) for Japanese students who wish to pursue a master’s or doctoral degree at a university abroad.
This program is available to current students or graduates of TUAT (excluding international students) who are either expected to obtain or have already obtained a degree from TUAT. 
The application guidelines for studying abroad in the following academic year are usually published on the JASSO website around September 1 each year.
Since the application period is short, it is recommended that you prepare in advance by referring to the guidelines from the previous year.

I want to do an internship abroad

You can use your skills and knowledge to gain social experience for a certain period of time as an employee at an overseas company or organization. It will be a good opportunity to think about career development overseas. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for application.

New Young Ambassador Program of Tobitate! Study Abroad Initiative 

I want to conduct international research activities.

I want to have a global research experience

This joint program provides the place where students can learn about internationality and diverse ways of thinking in a practical way by forming teams with students from overseas and working on projects together. The programs are mainly aimed at graduate students, and the duration varies depending on the program. Since this is a joint program with students from overseas, a certain level of English proficiency is required.

TUAT–Steinbeis University Joint Program

I would like to receive support for overseas travel expenses.

Students choose their host institutions based on their individual research themes and join universities, research institutes, or local laboratories around the world to conduct full-scale research abroad. Financial support is provided to cover the costs of these research stays. Since the activities are conducted overseas, a certain level of English proficiency is required. Support through scholarships from the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) is also available.
